Packaged Salad Recalled After Dead Bat Found in Mix

Fresh Express Salad has recalled a packaged salad mix after a dead bat was reportedly found in the Organic Marketside Spring Mix in Florida.

The Food and Drug Administration issued the national recall of the mix Saturday, April 8th, after it was purchased at a Walmart in Florida, and eaten by two people.

While the two consumers are reportedly fine, they are being treated for rabies as a precaution.


This is what you need to know about the recall:

  • The recalled salad mix was distributed only to Walmart stores that are located in the Southeastern region of the United States.
  • May have been distributed to: AL, FL, GA, LA, MS, NC, SC and VA.
  • The recalled salad mix is the “Organic Marketside Spring Mix” 5 oz. in a clear container with the UPC code 6 8113132897 5, and best-if-used-by date of April 14, 2017.

While there have not been any reported illnesses yet, the FDA advices all consumer to not consume the product and to return them to the store for a refund.​
